Big and Small Nutter Butter Acorns

Whenever it’s the holidays, and especially since we’re around the grands, we like to concoct quick creations that look festive and taste yummy. I found two ways to work with Nutter Butter cookies that are supposed to resemble acorns. My grands and I whipped them up, and we all enjoyed.

Little Nutter Butter Bite Acorns

For this quick and easy dessert treat, you’ll need these things:

  • Nutter Butter bites (I found them at the Dollar Tree)
  • Bag of Hershey’s kisses (remember, they make the “shareable” size now)
  • Peanut butter chips
  • Peanut butter (for the glue), or you could use Nutella

Unpeel the chocolate kisses, then assemble the acorns in this order:

  • Put a dab of peanut butter on the top or bottom of the bite.
  • Attach the kiss to the side with the peanut butter.
  • Flip the bite over and put another dab of peanut butter in the middle.
  • Attach a peanut butter chip.

Could it be more simple? This little cookie makes for a nice little dessert add-on.

Regular Nutter Butter Acorns

If you’d prefer to work with the larger cookies, the real Nutter Butters, you’ll need to purchase the following items:

  • Package of Nutter Butters
  • Chocolate melts (you know, the kind for pretzels and strawberries)
  • Festive fall and/or chocolate sprinkles.

Assemble your work area with some butter knives, a frosting paint brush if you want, bowls, spoons and of course, the cookies, melted chocolate (microwave on low) and sprinkles.

Dip half the Nutter Butter cookie into the melted chocolate. Use either a spoon or a brush to smooth out the chocolate to cover the cookie.

Then, take the cookie over to the sprinkle department bowl. We tried dipping them, but frankly, it worked better to actually sprinkle the sprinkles onto the cookie while holding it over a bowl. Then, we could get the leftovers for a leftover sprinkle.

Lay the finished product on parchment paper, because frankly, the chocolate is like super glue on a plate without parchment (or waxed paper) below.

Both of these recipes make for quick and festive additions to a fall menu. They’d be perfect for a holiday dinner dessert table, or tailgate party.
