GTM Offers Tools for Superheroes

At my house, we are big Avengers and Marvel fans. Prepared for any situation, the superheroes in these movies have on hand what they need to save anyone in distress. If you think about it, good mothers are superheroes. My boys used to be amazed at how I could pull anything out of my bag that they needed at any given time. Sure, the items in my purse changed as they grew up. Carrying a firearm added another dimension to being prepared for any situation. Continue reading for some tips on how you can be a superhero, thanks to an addition of a GTM concealed-carry bag or purse.

What is a Superhero?

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a superhero as “a fictional hero having extraordinary or superhuman powers and an exceptionally courageous, skillful, or successful person.”

We often hear about heroes only if they’re in a life-or-death situations and something terrible has already happened. Think about how many times you’ve watched the news and seen someone stop a potential villain. Do you even know of school staff that stopped a potential school shooter? No, because they haven’t done the shooting yet. These stories don’t make the news.

Tips for Being a Superhero

A superhero never knows what scene she will encounter. She is prepared to come to the rescue in any situation. Just like Batman, she always has the tools handy that she may need. In The Survival Mom’s article, “18 Things to Always Have in Your Purse (Your Everyday Carry Essentials),” she offers three questions to ask when deciding what to carry in your purse, and these work really well if you’re carrying concealed, too.

Ask yourself:

  1. Is it essential?
  2. Is it compact?
  3. Does it have multiple uses?

Gun Tote’n Mamas (GTM) offers a purse size and style to fit whatever tools any superhero chooses to carry. Of course all the bags have a separate compartment for your handgun, pepper spray, knife or whatever you want easy and fast access to obtain. Check out GTM’s full line of totes for those needing a more oversized style. For our business, Clark Kent-like superheroes who need a bag more suitable for the office, look no further than GTM’s office collection. If you want hands-free for your everyday carry (EDC), a GTM Sling Backpack is a great choice. They are currently available in four different leathers and two different sizes.

If you conceal carry a handgun in your purse, you must be extra vigilant of your superhero tools. Make sure you train, train and then train some more with your gun. Learn how to draw from your purse and practice with both dry-fire and live-fire.

Take a class specific to off-body carry, like Donna Anthony’s online course. Practice your draw every time you start carrying a new handbag. It may change a little each time if the bag is a different size or the strap is a different length. And most of all, always ensure your purse is on your body outside your home. Inside your home consider how you will safely store your firearm. Project ChildSafe offers numerous resources for securing your firearms, including free gunlocks and safe storage options.

Before heading out of state, research the concealed carry laws in each state you travel through. The USCCA’s website contains a page with a concealed carry reciprocity map and gun laws by state. This is a great resource for finding out what you must do to ensure you abide by the law. They even have a page dedicated to the National Parks, wildlife refuges, forests and airports.
