In March, Claudia Chisholm, President of Kingport Industries LLC, maker of Gun Tote’n Mamas, asked what college students could do to survive an active killer attack. In “Surviving an Active Killer Attack,” I explained the tactics of Run. Hide. Fight. I also shared techniques that I learned from Andrew Blubaugh, of APEX Shooting and Tactics during his active killer training.

To prepare everyone for a safe summer travel season, trainer Greg Ellifritz, owner of Active Response Training, shared his “Top 5 Travel Safety Tips” with me. As a world traveler who has spent much of his time in third world countries, Greg is an expert on this topic.

May brought 600 A Girl and A Gun chapter members to Grand Junction, Colorado, for their annual conference and Gun Tote’n Mamas was there! Claudia Chisholm and her team showcased the latest colors and new line of purses on Vendor Day. Some of the other events during the six-day event are highlighted in “GTM Attends A Girl & A Gun National Conference 2023.”

The team behind Gun Tote’n Mamas wants you to be safe and secure in your everyday encounters. With this in mind, in June, I checked with Duane Wolfe, a nationally known law enforcement writer, trainer, researcher and speaker, and asked for his top five verbal commands every woman should know for self-defense.

July brought the awaited release of the Gun Tote’n Mamas’ GTM-116 Waist-Sling. In the article “Not Your ’80’s Fanny Pack,” I showed you all the new trendy ways you might wear your GTM-116.

In August, I reached out to Gary Queseberry, author of the “Spotting Danger” book series, for his top five safety tips for college students. It’s a great idea to revisit the tips Gary offered. They are great reminders for anyone at any time.

As mentioned above, Gun Tote’n Mamas is serious about women’s protection, which also includes training. In September, I shared my experience taking Donna Anthony’s online Off-Body Concealed Carry Course. If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out the course, you should look into it. Her 18-lesson course is chock-full of information that includes dry-fire exercises, interviews, videos, graphics and more. It’s well worth your time, as you can never have enough training. 

EMERGENCY EXIT GTM Gun Tote'n Mamas

The WON offered safety tips in October and November to help everyone during the holiday season. First, Shelley Hill, creator of “Image Based Decisional Drills,” got us ready for gift buying and shared her top seven safety tips for women shopping. Then, Kelly Sayre, Founder and President of The Diamond Arrow Group, and author of Sharp Women, gave us her top five safety tips for holiday gatherings. As with our other articles, these safety tips are essential for anyone, regardless of the season.
