Becoming an Outdoors-Woman, California is offering a fly fishing working April 15-17, 2011 at the Fresno County Sportsmen’s Club. Close to Fresno, but off the beaten path, the Fresno County Sportsmen’s Club is a real jewel. The club offers 13 acres of lush green riverfront property with a fabulous log cabin-style clubhouse. There are plenty of shade trees, a well-kept lawn, picnic tables, barbecues, and restroom facilities. We will be camping on the property which will accommodate tents or RVs.
During the day we’ll learn the basics of fly fishing from our expert instructor, Deb Cox. She will be covering casting, reading the water, entomology, conservation, knots, landing and releasing, and plenty of hands-on practice. If you ever wanted to learn to fly fish in a beautiful place, this is the workshop for you. All fishing equipment will be provided.
After your day of learning the art of fly fishing there will be a social hour and Friday and Saturday’s evening meals will be prepared for you by our expert cooks, Tina Stoner and Mandy Loo. You are responsible for your breakfasts and lunches.
The workshop starts at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 15th. Arrival time is any time before 12:00 noon to set up your campsite and have lunch. We will convene after lunch on Sunday. After your registration is received you will receive an e-mail with all of the information you will need – directions to the club and a suggested list of items to bring with you. A California sports fishing license is required.
The cost of the workshop is $250 and includes access to the Club, dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings, all fishing equipment and instruction. There is still space available in this workshop.
