Montana Becoming an Outdoors-Woman to hold ice fishing workshop

The Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program is sponsoring an ice fishing workshop on February 8-10 at Peterson Lake near Bigfork, Montana.

Volunteer instructor and workshop organizer, Kim Driscoll of Potomac, says that the class is for beginning or intermediate anglers who want to learn the basics or improve their fishing skills.

Participants will learn about ice safety, fish identification and what bait, lures and other gear to use. No prior skills or equipment are needed.

“We want people to come and experience ice fishing in a fun, laid back atmosphere,” Driscoll says. “And we hope they head home with more confidence on the ice and a skill set they can use to do some more fishing on their own.”

The workshop setting is a modern camp located on the shore of Peterson Lake. The $100 fee to participate includes all fishing equipment, meals and two nights lodging. Scholarships are available.
