Michigan DNR & BOW invite women to Winter Discovery Day in Roscommon

ROSCOMMON, Mich. (AP) — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has put out the call for women to head outdoors this winter with an all-day program at a center in the northern Lower Peninsula.

The Winter Discovery Day is scheduled for Jan. 28 at the MacMullan Conference Center in Roscommon. It’s part of the DNR’s Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program and costs $50 to participate.

The department says the program “is designed for women to try a variety of outdoor skills in a fun, safe and non-competitive environment.”

Subjects covered include ice fishing, snowshoeing, map and compass skills, hiking, duck hunting, self-defense, pistol shooting and turkey hunting.

The registration deadline is Jan. 24. Visit the Michigan DNR website for more information.
