In two past posts at The WON, I’ve introduced you to CCW Safe’s benefits – including self-defense coverage, which includes testimonials from Barbara Baird and Julie Golob, two professionals in the firearms industry. Then, I shared what I learned about CCW Safe’s personal approach to self-defense needs. This month, I reached out to three current female members of CCW Safe and asked them a few questions to find out why they carry and what caused them to choose CCW Safe.
Why did you choose to carry concealed?
I frequently traveled alone both domestically and internationally during my working years and often felt vulnerable. I also live in a rural area, at least 15 minutes from the nearest law enforcement, and decided after my retirement that I needed to learn to protect myself. I grew up in a hunting family, but had never embraced concealed carry for personal protection. I joined A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League in 2017 and gained the skills and confidence to begin carrying concealed. I also joined CCW Safe in 2017, as I understood the importance of not only training on a regular basis, but also the need to insure I had legal protection in case of a defensive firearm incident.
What services provided by CCW Safe were you most surprised to find?
I joined CCW Safe primarily for the legal protections. Still, I was excited to find that they offered training courses to members, as well as case studies of actual defensive shooting incidents. I have attended presentations of other defensive incident coverages but through research, did not find them to offer coverage as comprehensive as what was available through CCW Safe.
What message would you like to send to other women considering CCW Safe?
In today’s litigious society, I believe it is extremely important to have legal coverage you can rely on if you are involved in a defensive firearm incident. Other companies offer self-defense incident coverage, but financial outlays and limits can vary considerably, so I encourage everyone to do their research prior to making a decision. As the Oklahoma State Director for Women for Gun Rights, I firmly believe we all need to take responsibility to protect ourselves in the event we become involved in a defensive firearm incident.
Why did you choose to carry concealed?
I was a single female living on my own. I knew I needed a way to keep myself safe so I started carrying. I wanted to be able to protect myself before first responders could get there. I have been carrying for 10 years now.
What services provided by CCW Safe were you most surprised to find?
I looked into a couple different companies. CCW Safe gave me the best coverage without breaking the bank. There was bail bond coverage and coverage for expert witnesses.

It checks all the boxes you need when you are looking for coverage. And it’s affordable. Their customer service has been great whenever I’ve needed to contact them.
Why did you choose to carry concealed?
In 2014, a neighbor experienced a break-in when they were home. I worked from home and was alone all day without a firearm or knowledge to use it. That started my journey of being prepared to defend myself. I’ve been carrying a firearm and training regularly with it for over 10 years.
What services provided by CCW Safe were you most surprised to find?
1 It’s not insurance-based like our previous provider. There is no third party (insurer) to interfere with and deny coverage.
2. Coverage is guaranteed. They pay 100% (no limits) of defense costs (criminal and civil) – even if found guilty. There’s no reimbursement requirement if found guilty. That’s not always the case with other providers.
3. With the Premium Civil Liability add-on, CCW Safe covers up to $2 Million in damages.
4. CCW Safe has deep, direct legal experience in defending use-of-force cases.
5. Covered costs are extensive. It includes jury consultants, social media management consultants, subject matter experts and much more.
6. They cover appeals, retrial after appeals and retrial following mistrials.
7. CCW Safe was more affordable than the coverage we previously had.

If you own a firearm, you should have legal coverage from a company that will honor its commitment to its members and be there when you need it most.
Don’t make the mistake of not having some type of self-defense coverage. And don’t take my word about why you should choose CCW Safe for your self-defense needs. The ladies I interviewed above offered some significant reasons for reaching out to CCW Safe and finding out what membership plan works best for you.
