Vera Koo’s second book, “Wisdom and Things,” is now available for sale in China and online. Vera’s follow-up to “The Most Unlikely Champion,” is a collection of essays from the closing era of her pistol shooting career. Readers can follow the amazing journey of Vera as a 12-year-old immigrant who did not know a word of English to the apex of the action pistol shooting world, as an eight-time recipient of the Bianchi Cup.
Vera has not only been exposed to remarkable success, but also has persevered through a myriad of challenges. Nothing short of rigid determination has been a close ally of Vera’s throughout this 156-page journey. “Wisdom and Things” paints a complete picture of not only Vera the woman, but additionally, of Vera the high-octane shooter. Readers will be exposed to Vera Koo across time, adversity and unrelenting resilience.
Vera offers an intimate insight into some of the behind-the-scenes moments of her life that have molded her as a champion. Conveniently, for those who aren’t familiar with Vera’s story, she offers timeless inspiration and advice that can be expeditiously considered and applied posthaste. Some sample wisdom consists of handling setbacks with humility and courage, tackling bearable goals and growing in skillfulness, regardless of age.
More remarkable than the different worlds that Vera has been a part of are her steadfast values. Faith, discipline and kindness make up the keystones of her rich life, and she has passed these indomitable qualities on to her children. “Wisdom and Things” seeks to empower those who experience hardship, and to relay that with some of the most nuanced hardships emerge the strongest and most versatile people. Vera’s message is timeless and a treasure.
Amy Swan designed the beautiful, pick-me-up cover of “Wisdom and Things: Essays From an Unlikely Champion.” One of action pistol shooting sports legends and NRA Action pistol Bianchi Cup Champion, Mickey Fowler, penned the foreword.
