Volquartsen Firearms announces their partnership with Kristy Lee Cook-Orr. Cook-Orr prides herself on being an outdoor enthusiast, hunter, angler, and horse trainer.
Hunting hasn’t always been a part of her life, though. She grew up singing country music and eventually landed a spot on American Idol Season 7. It was during her time on American Idol that she was introduced to hunting.
“I wasn’t sure if I would even like hunting honestly, I remember all the times I hit an animal and would bawl my eyes out. No one thought I would ever be able to pull the trigger until I pulled the trigger,” noted Cook-Orr.
In addition, “Lots of hard days, hiking, and exhaustion made me all the more anxious to hunt and fill my tag. I shot my first bear and deer my first year hunting and haven’t stopped since.”
Following American Idol, Cook-Orr began hosting television shows beginning with Goin’ Country with Kristy Lee Cook. The show ran for 3 seasons, after which she returned to her roots in music.
While away from the television industry Cook-Orr had an idea for a new show called The Most Wanted List. Building the show from the ground up, The Most Wanted List will be filming season 11 this year.
“Scott Volquartsen was fortunate enough to meet Kristy and her husband Lee at SHOT Show in 2023. They began discussing how much fun it is to shoot 22 LR. From there we learned their young son was excited to shoot, and they were looking for a rifle that suited them on the ranch and their son on the range. We got them set up with our VM-22 rifle and 4.5” Mamba-X pistol,” commented Volquartsen Firearms Marketing Director Chad Wittrock.
Cook-Orr believes it’s important to appreciate the history of the hunting and shooting industry. Learning skills and how to survive when times get tough is something you can pass on to family, friends, and even strangers.
Cook-Orr added, “Volquartsen has been another part of our journey and we love their brand, being a part of our family, teaching our kids and the next generation how to carry on what we have learned. It’s important to keep our hunting and shooting world a part of our lifestyle. Kids who are raised in this environment respect and love the outdoors and everything that it means.”
She is grateful to be part of an amazing community that cares about wildlife, the outdoors, and being able to carry on that tradition.

The Most Wanted List season 11 will begin filming later this year and can be viewed on the Sportsman channel, Youtube, Hulu Live, Friendly App, Outdoor America, Hunt Channel, and MOTV.
