GTM-116 Waist-Sling: Not Your ’80’s Fanny Pack

They’re back, but don’t you dare call them fanny packs. If you’re like me, you may recall the waist-sling of the ’80s, which consisted of thin fabric with block fluorescent colors that everyone, including teens, adults, men and women, wore around their waists. When I first began seeing these packs around, I figured it was just a phase, along with the reintroduction of Mom jeans. (Who thought that was a good idea?) However, I firmly believe this type of concealed-carry bag will be around for a while, so I decided to go for it and get my own Gun Tote’n Mamas GTM-116 Waist-Sling Crossbody Pac.

How to Wear It

Nowadays, I see waist-slings worn in various ways (thank goodness)! And thankfully, Gun Tote’n Mamas’ Waist-Sling Crossbody Pac comes with an extender that makes the strap up to 50-inches long.

Just like in the ’80s, the Waist-Sling Crossbody Pac looks good around the waist.

Wear your waist-sling crossbody to be hip and up-to-date with the latest trend. The great thing about the GTM-116 is its three-sided opening, allowing a user to have either a left or right-handed draw.

Another way to wear a GTM-116 is crossbody in the back. If this is new to you, as with any concealed carry purse, practice your draw with an unloaded gun before using it publicly.

Where to Use It

A GTM-116 is just like any other purse. Wear it with what you want, when you want and where you want. I absolutely love the size and enjoy wearing it crossbody as a sling. It really came in handy when I was wearing a bathing suit on a boat, and we decided to stop on an island for a beverage. I did not have my gun with me, but I brought the purse along to have somewhere to keep a wallet and my phone. Of course, everyone else was also wearing bathing suits and needed somewhere to store their IDs and money. Guess who was in charge of carrying all that stuff?

Another time I plan to use my Waist-Sling Crossbody Pac is while riding a bike. I’ll have quick access to my pistol, whichever way I decide to wear it.

Finally, some amusement parks won’t allow you on rides with a backpack. I found the Waist-Sling Crossbody Pac perfect for carrying my phone, ChapStick, credit card, mints, hand sanitizer and sunglasses. This is also great for concerts!
