GRAND JUNCTION, CO (AGirlandAGun.org) – A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League (AG & AG), the firearm industry’s first large-scale chapter-based women’s organization, recently hosted its 10th Annual National Conference Presented by GLOCK. The sold-out event took place at Cameo Shooting and Education Complex near Palisade, CO, from April 28 through May 1, 2022. More than 900 AG & AG members, sponsors, staff, and friends were in attendance.
“We celebrated our 10th National Conference by adding 100 more attendee spots and new instructors to our team,” says AG & AG Founder, Julianna Crowder. “I am proud that what started out as an idea to make top-tier training affordable to everyday women has grown into the Event of the Year! And more importantly, after a decade of our efforts nationwide, we are proud that it is finally commonplace to see women in classes with the best instructors in the business.”
Participants included approximately 550 members representing 120 AG & AG chapters from 42 different states. The women were able to choose from among 335 training sessions run by 95 of the nation’s top firearms educators. Topics included self-defense to competition in all firearms platforms, archery, gunsmithing, tactical medicine, situational awareness, instructor development, suicide prevention, legal topics, and more. Training classes ran over 3 days, with an additional 2 days of lectures and leadership development. The event also included a Vendor Day with representatives from 37 major brands, including GLOCK, Walther, USCCA, Primary Arms, Stag Arms, Heckler & Koch, U.S. Law Shield, and others, showcasing the latest product lines to AG & AG members and their guests.
“The firearms industry is not only providing superior products for women, but also providing opportunities for training and helping our members grow in skill and confidence,” says Robyn Sandoval, AG & AG’s Executive Director. Legendary instructors John & Vicki Farnam; GLOCK’s Director of Training Willie Parent; CZ-USA Field Sports’ Brand Manager Dave Miller; Walther’s Tatiana Whitlock, Jim Dexter, and Nick Young; and USCCA’s Beth Alcazar and Justin Peters were among the all-star trainers at Conference.
Cameo Shooting and Education Complex was the ideal location for the event. With 28 live-fire bays, 16 field classrooms, a beautiful sporting clays course, and a 2,003-yard rifle range, AG & AG was able to provide training classes on a wide variety of shooting and self-defense topics. Cameo also allowed AG & AG to bring Heligunner, so attendees enjoyed aerial gunnery with views of the gorgeous Grand Mesa. The Cameo staff and volunteers were invaluable to the success of the event, as were local businesses and the Grand Junction Sports Commission.
