6 reasons to love the Vertx A-Range Bag

During the 2014 Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT) I spent some time in the Vertx booth. I became mesmerized as representatives from Vertx demonstrated the new line of bags and packs. These bags have so many bells and whistles; I can’t imagine the design time that must have gone into creating them. It seems like they thought of everything. Luckily for me, not too long after SHOT, a large, lightweight box arrived at my house with Vertx printed on it. My family knew I was waiting on an order, so they knew better than to touch it. Like Christmas morning as a child, I excitedly tore open the box and found my Vertx A-Range Bag ($219.95) inside. Once I looked through all the compartments and thought of all my options, I brought out my old, jumbled and unorganized range bag. After dumping the contents on my bedroom floor, I sorted out all the extra pens, gum and other miscellaneous doodads I don’t need, and began filling my new Vertx A-Range Bag.

After using my new bag at every class or match I have attended during the past few months, I’ve come up with 6 reasons to love the Vertx A-Range Bag.

Quality construction

Honestly, I never used a range bag constructed so well. Generous pull-tabs on quality zippers allow me to easily open the various compartments. There also is a lock-down cable system for those that need to store their bag in an accessible area.

Zippered sections

There are 3 separate dual-zippered compartments in the Vertx A-Range Bag. All of which can be locked. The top deck opens to 8-inches wide. This is where I store anything I need quick access to during the day. Snacks, ear protection, eye protection, Ibuprofen and sunscreen are some of the items inside. The zippered side pocket holds my pistol tightly, including a Galco Carrysafe ($34.95) attached with the Velcroloops. The opposite side opens and lies completely flat, with a short lip that keeps small parts from rolling away. This area can be used as a cleaning rug, or as a place to attach your Tactigami(which you will read about below).

Bonus magazine pouch

The 6-pistol magazine pouch, with Velcro closure, is included with the A-Range Bag. Rather than tossing my magazines into the bag and having to search for them when I get home, I now just pull out the magazine pouch and put them there. This pouch adds another level of organization. How did I ever live without it?

Garage deck storage system

This might be my favorite part! There are 2 pull-out drawers in the bottom of the A-Range Bag. Not only a do they make a storage area, but also they include drawstring bags with mesh bottoms. You can use these bags to store your used brass, and then easily shake out any debris you might have picked up.

Tactigami

Never heard of this before? Think tactical origami, created from VelcroOne-Wrap. The entire A-Range Bag is lined with a hook compatible surface. So, whether you use Vertx’s Tactigami ($9.95-$24.95) pieces, or create some of your own, you can easily organize your bag. I use the Belt Adapter Panel to secure my magazine pouches when I am not wearing them. A few small strips of Velcro hold my black Sharpie and bottle of Ibuprofen. Totally customizable!

Color choices

Unlike many items in the firearms industry, the A-Range Bag comes in 2 color choices. Yes, you have the typical black, but also it is available in smoke grey. Hooray! I can now easily find my range bag in the sea of black on my basement floor.

Once you have your own Vertx A-Range Bag, your choices for organizing all your range needs are limitless. If you’re like me, you will be moving your Tactigamiaround, every now and then, finding new places to keep your energy bars and attaching Chapstick with Velcro, in an easy-to-access area. Use your imagination and make the Vertx A-Range Bag your own!
