LARAMIE – The Wyoming Women’s Foundation is offering scholarships to pay participation expenses for women interested in joining the 2013 Wyoming Women’s Antelope Hunt.
The scholarship covers the cost of hunting on private lands, a hunting license, lodging, and meals for the event. Selected applicants will be responsible for their own transportation to the event. Applicants must be women who are over the age of 18. Ideal candidates would have a desire to learn to hunt to feed their family and are looking for mentorship to do so. However, the scholarship is not exclusively for first time hunters.
The application involves completing a short online essay by 5 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9describing why the applicant feels she should be selected. If interested in applying, please visit www.wyomingwomensantelopehunt.
The event will provide a guided antelope hunt for 50 women with a strong emphasis on safe, responsible hunting and mentorship. The field portion of Wyoming’s hunter safety course will be offered on Oct. 2. The other portion of hunter safety requirements can be completed online before participants arrive for the hunt. One of the event’s sponsors, Remington will provided loaner rifles for scholarship recipients if necessary.
