Oh, how I hate being cold and uncomfortable. I’ve sat with the boys in the woods during youth shotgun seasons with my hands in my pockets, or under my rear end or tucked in my armpits. Sometimes nothing helps, no matter how many layers of gloves I have on. With my first time attempting to hunt deer coming up, I was excited that I was fortunate enough last year at SHOT Show to come across an amazing product, the Deluxe Hand Warmer by Zippo. Yes, the same Zippo that comes to mind when you think of high quality lighters.
My chrome Zippo Hand Warmer came with a warming bag and filling cup. All I had to purchase was Zippo lighter fluid and a lighter. After reading the instructions carefully, I decided to give my new hand warmer a try. The filling cup holds enough lighter fluid to last for 12 hours and has a half-filled mark. I only filled it up halfway, since once it is ignited, it cannot be shut off; you have to wait until the fluid is used up. The lighting process was very easy and I quickly felt the warmth provided by a catalytic process without flame.
Wow, was I happy to feel the heat coming from the my Zippo Hand Warmer. Not only was it the perfect size to fit in my coat pocket, but also it fit easily into my jeans and chest pockets of my shirt. I also like that I can plan how long I will be in the cold and fill it up with enough fluid for approximately that amount of time.
Thankfully, we have not yet reached that freezing cold Ohio weather, but I have had the opportunity to try my hand warmer on some rather chilly days and have always been happy with the results. Whether heading out on a hike, watching a sporting event or sitting in the woods, I highly recommend this long lasting, easy to use, refillable Zippo Hand Warmer. The chrome finish can be found at Zippo online, or Walmart, or Amazon, and retails for $19.95. There is also a Realtree finish for $29.95 and customized ones for $39.95.

Now, I only wish they made something that would fit at the foot of my bed to keep my feet warm.

Can’t wait to try this product! I’ve heard any finish other than chrome tends to rub off in time due to the heat…. just fyi 🙂
So I had the opportunity to use the warmer again. This time I stuck it in the inside pocket of my coat. Wow…did it feel nice. My youngest son Alex also used it inside his coat…he slept for hours while deer hunting.
From the 1930’s and 40’s, the Zippo was very fitting towards brave characters portrayed in films during those times – it had been mostly put to use as being an accessory to improve the general appearance of a particular character, similar to a trench coat or fedora would.
