To me, there are two things that are important for ladies shooting gear – comfort and style. You can have one without the other, but it’s always fun to have your cake and eat it too, right ladies?
Last time on Gear Court I told you all about the I-SHOT Ghurka Range Backpack I discovered at SHOT Show. Another item I stumbled upon was the Blade-Tech Dropped and Offset Holster (DOH) and magazine pouches.
Women are curvy. This is not a secret. One of the biggest challenges for me is finding a holster that doesn’t ride high on my hip, making it extremely uncomfortable not just sitting, but standing as well. Plus, I wanted a magazine pouch that would work well for me during IPSC matches.

The Blade-Tech DOH eliminates this because it is designed to cater to our curves! As you can see in the photo, the holster sits low enough on my hip, but still allows for easy presentation of a firearm, something that’s extremely important in USPSA shooting. In fact, it’s made such a huge impact on the sport, it’s become one of the most used holsters in the Production division. Congrats Blade-Tech.
Another great feature, you can adjust the tension on the body of the holster. In USPSA shooting, it’s important to be able to draw your firearm quickly with no hang ups. That could make or break a stage. There are two screws on the outside of the holster that allow for tension adjustment. If the straight drop cant isn’t comfortable for you, that’s adjustable as well.
Now for the things I didn’t care for. Most competition belts are 1-1/2”. The belt that I have been using, up until recently, wasn’t wide enough to fit the holster, however, the DOH holster features an adjustable lever on the back that allows you to increase or decrease the slot size. Only problem here, once you pop the lever off and readjust, it’s REALLY hard to snap back into place. I was afraid I was going to break this piece off of my holster and double magazine pouch, so I gave up. The DOH features Blade-Tech’s Adjustable Sting Ray (ASR) belt loop slot on the back of their holsters. They also offer products that fit belts from 1.25” to 2.25”.

I also was able to try out the Double Magazine Pouch from Blade-Tech. Like the DOH holster, the construction is superb! On the flip side, it too features the adjustable bar on the back side. Not a fan. Unlike single mag pouches, the double mag pouch limits magazine position. For me, I like to have the freedom to space my pouches out on my belt. With the double mag pouch, that restricts it a little. I do have some singles coming my way that I’m looking forward to trying out. Blade-Tech makes top quality products!
