Advertise
The WON launched on Nov. 4, 2008. Since then, it has grown to include thousands of readers per month that download updates in their email boxes or RSS Feeds. These readers then become subscribers. The WON’s business 125×125 ads have measured hundreds and hundreds of click-thrus.
Why advertise at The WON? As The WON grows, so will exposure to your business and that means more women coming to your website and/or your storefront. Women – the fastest growing segment in almost every outdoor market – will tell their friends, their moms, their daughters … and their husbands, dads, boyfriends and sons.
We invite you to become an advertiser at the WON. See the different ways you can belong to this networking opportunity below. Also, as an advertiser at The WON, we encourage you to interact with our band of reviewers at The Gear Court who will test and write honestly about your gear.

What’s new in 2010?
- The “Shoot to Thrill” category has been so popular that we’ve added video tips for 2010.
- More quirky folks, places to go and things to do in the outdoors, as seen through the eyes of freelance outdoor writer Barbara Baird in her “Babbs in the Woods” blog. Baird is an award-winning outdoor writer, with awards from the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association and a recipient of the prestigious Conservation Federation of Missouri’s Outstanding Outdoor Communicator 2007. With bylines in America’s First Freedom, Turkey Country, Heartland, Missouri Division of Tourism’s Travel News Bureau and Fly Fisherman magazine, to name a few, this outdoor writer brings the reader with her wherever she goes – even if it’s upside down in a slough while gigging for frogs on a moonlit night!
- You’ll get to know our two associate editors better as they bring experience and technical prowess to the publication. Tammy Ballew manages Gear Court. As a freelance court reporter, this woman knows the lingo of the legal system and applies it to the reviews she edits. She’s also an avid outdoorswoman – hunting, fishing and shooting in her spare time. Our other associate editor, Paige Eissinger, runs website services for many businesses, including The WON, and is learning about all the outdoors has to offer. She brings a unique perspective; she’s that prospective client that outdoors retailers want to reach. Both women contribute columns (Camo Mom and Flying the Coop) to the site.
- More gear reviews and more honest gear reviewers in Gear Court. Our reviewers will tell the truth as if they’re under oath. One of them recently sentenced a flashlight to the death penalty. Our reviewers aren’t paid to play; they also test the tar out of the gear – even if it means driving over it with an SUV or loading a bag with weights.
- Podcasts – featuring The WON’s editors and also, our advertisers in interviews at our soon-to-be launched podcast called “The LIVE WON.”
