Aurora, Colo. –-Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever announce Marilyn Vetter of New Richmond, Wis. has been elected to the organization’s National Board of Directors.
Vetter is currently the Senior Director of Government and Public Affairs for Horizon Pharma, Inc. in the Midwest region. She joins Pheasants Forever’s 18-member board which meets quarterly and oversees the operations of Pheasants Forever, Inc. and Quail Forever.
“Pheasants Forever is a role model for other conservation groups to engage local volunteers on a national stage,” explained Vetter.
“I am humbled and honored to serve on the Board of Directors for such a prestigious organization and look forward to helping conserve wildlife habitat for pheasants, quail and other species.”

Prior to becoming involved with the pharmaceutical industry in 1992, Vetter began her professional career shortly after college as a journalist covering North Dakota’s legislative and executive branches. During her career, she has served on multiple committees for organizations including the Illinois Biotechnology Industry Organization and BIO Forward, and is currently a board member of the State Government Affairs Council. In addition to her complimentary service in different board capacities, she’s also been actively involved in hunting and land conservation for nearly three decades. Vetter is a hunting dog enthusiast as part of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association where she has held multiple board positions, including a 3-year term as president.

“Her experience in communications and government affairs has the ability to lead our organization in a new and exciting direction, and her knowledge of hunting and dog breeds connects with the core of our members. For these reasons, we’re excited to have Ms. Vetter as the newest addition to our National Board of Directors.”
Originally from a small grain and cattle farm in central North Dakota and the youngest of seven children, Vetter graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in political science. In addition to being an active Pheasants Forever member, Vetter also prides herself on being part of many other conservation groups including Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl and the Ruffed Grouse Society.
Vetter and her husband, Clyde, own and operate Sharp Shooters Kennel, a 21-year-old dog breeding and training business located in New Richmond, Wis. The couple owns several German shorthaired pointers and enjoys raising puppies, hunting, training, and trialing throughout the year to fulfill their passion for the outdoors.
