DIVA WOW hosted its first “How to Select a CHL Holster,” on Sat., June 21, at Quail Creek Shooting Range in Argyle, Texas. Forty-six women showed up with guns and ammo, and a few brought holsters that they wanted to learn to use.
Chris Rainey and crew, of ProActive Defense, worked for more than 4 hours with the women on ranges, including live fire practice after drawing from holsters. Back in the classroom portion, Carrie Lightfoot, from The Well Armed Woman, instructed on the topic of the wide range of holster options available.
“Our research has revealed 2 main obstacles for women concealed carriers,” said Judy Rhodes, founder of DIVA WOW. “Many holsters are not made to fit women’s varied body types and women’s clothing allows too much ‘printing’ from improperly selected holsters.”
Rhodes ranked this inaugural event as a major success. “After the clinic, we were inundated with inquiries as to when the next clinic will be held. Based on the success of this clinic, the first-ever to work with live fire on a shooting range, we will hold another holster clinic this fall and eventually, branch out to our members across the nation with the opportunity,” added Rhodes.
In a testimonial, one of the class participants, Jackie, wrote, “Just got in from the best and most necessary DIVA WOW clinic I’ve ever been to (if you are a woman and want to conceal carry). … Good job, Judy Rhodes, Sylvia Hastedt, Marietta Johnson and Cheryl Long. Y’all hit this one out of the park. As soon as my new holster arrives, I’m going back to Quail Creek to take the Proactive Defense class to teach me how to draw from it.”
Femme Fatale, Sticky Holsters, Flashbang Holsters, The Well Armed Woman, BlackHawk!, Pistol Wear and Uncle Mike’s donated holsters for the event.
