My Job … My Outdoors: Casting ‘across the pond’ to Lucy in the UK
March 3, 2010 by Women's Outdoor News
Someone needs to feature this woman in a documentary. She’s 22. She’s been fishing with her dad for 17 of those years, and already, she’s giving back to society by hosting fishing events for women, for cancer patients, and for those who want to learn to fish. She is a public speaker about women and fishing, and she works for Hardy & Greys, Alnwick, England — a world-renowned fishing tackle manufacturer. We found her online because of her women’s fishing clinics, and in particular, her website called “Fishing for Everyone with Lucy Bowden,” and know that you will enjoy reading about Lucy Bowden’s lifestyle, too. We admire her spirit, youth and passion for beautiful fishing.
My Job
My main job (also my dream job) is working for world famous fishing tackle manufacturer, Hardy & Greys Ltd as a Marketing Assistant. The company is based in Alnwick, England, but supply fishing tackle all over the world. I also run my own business, www.fishingforeveryone.com – encouraging and promoting more people, especially women, into the sport of angling. I believe that anyone can fish, no matter what your race, gender or ability and it is my mission to promote this ethos.
I have devoted my life to angling both personally and professionally. An angler for over 17 years I founded the Fishing For Everyone Ladies Fishing Club which I am now Chairman of two years ago. We have the most fantastic group of ladies – no egos – just a helpful, supportive and fun group. We
meet regularly all over the UK and run events covering all fishing disciplines from carp, coarse, fly and sea fishing.
My Outdoors
I absolutely love being outdoors. I love the fresh air, relaxation and being around nature. I love that the outdoor environment is every-changing – I love the feel of the rain on my face in early autumn and the sun on my back during the summer months. Thunderstorms amaze me – it’s just a shame the fishing has to cease when they occur!
As well as going fishing I also enjoy long walks along the beach or in the countryside with my Dad.

Hi womens outsdoor news,
just read what i would say a very interesting article about Lucy Bowden. I would be very interested to know what she’s done for cancer patients as we have for the last 2 years tried to get her interested in the Macmillian Big Fish.
As far as i’m aware but would love to be corrected that Fishing For Everyone which is a club that was set up August 2009 has not run any events for cancer patients, we would love to know because we would have helped her.
We would also love to know where she mets regularly over the Uk as far a i know she’s only held events in northumberland. If lucy wants to tell us where her other events are we would be very pleased to promote these.
Regards
I know Lucy personally and I can only reiterate the comments above. Not only is she a fantastic ambassador for her sport, but she is a dedicated, enthusiastic and friendly person who goes to untold lengths to get women integrated and comfortable within fishing.
Why Lucy isn’t a celebrity within her sport, I don’t know. I think it’s only a matter of time.
