Camo Mom: From the mountains to the State Capitol
January 20, 2010 by Tammy Ballew
I consider myself a very blessed individual, in that I love the outdoors and all the hunting traditions that I am able to participate in. I am also very blessed in that I love my job. But I must say that out of the two photographs below, I was having tons more fun in the mountains.
I’m a small-town gal, so it still amazes me how you can go from one extreme geographically to another in such a short time. (There’s lots more that amazes me, but I won’t go into that.) One day I was up on top of this beautiful mountain looking out across the basin hunting cow elk, and the next day I’m on a job several stories up in a building looking out at our State Capitol building.
There is beauty and integrity in both, sometimes you just have to look a little harder to see it. I didn’t actually capture all the wonders of nature surrounding the Capitol building, because I only had my iPhone camera on hand. The Missouri River flows rampantly behind our Capitol, and this time of year the river is filled with chunks of floating ice, which was very enchanting to watch with the sun glistening off the snowy blocks.
So although I can’t wait for my next hunting trip to the mountains, I try to look around me every day, no matter what I’m doing, and see the beauty.
